AJC ROAD RACE SHIRT
PEACHTREE ROAD RACE
(…Every July 4th in the Heart of Atlanta!)
The Atlanta Journal Constitution host an annual 10k race every year on the Fourth of July, bringing together Georgians of all races, ages, and fitness levels to race along one of Atlanta’s most popular streets, Peachtree Street. Along with this race they host an annual t-shirt contest, where finalists are chosen by a board based on their execution of each year’s theme, colors, craftsmanship, and overall representation of the history and impact of Atlanta and the race itself. After review, I was chosen as a finalist, where Georgians were able to cast vast for their favorite design out of five options.
For my design, I wanted to capture the essence of the Fourth of July in a subtle, yet fun way. I chose to make the peach the star of the show; the leading lines sprouting from the peach showcase the bold energy of fireworks, with the dotted lines alluding to roads. With Georgia being the “Peach State” and the race being named after Peachtree, I went with an orange color with a pop of blue. Overall, I wanted my design to be simple, but still capture the essence of The Fourth and the race that the AJC combines each year.
